Virtual Missions 2021 aims to bring our THN community together over 2 days to build collective vision, hope and faith for the future of our ministries, in spite of the current COVID climate.

We invite you to join us, and together, let’s continue to guard the gospel faithfully, spread it actively and live it out bravely, for the glory of God!

We look forward to seeing you for both days at the Early Morning Prayer Meetings, Praise & Worship sessions, as well as Late Night Prayer Meetings. Do take some time to browse through the various workshops available. You have the opportunity to participate in up to 4 different workshops over the 2 days! We pray that you will be immensely blessed by what we have prepared for you.

Good practices in Internet technology are essential for the work of the Kingdom. In this workshop, learn the importance of IT controls, security policies, user access management, change management, end-user policies and more.

With years of experience as IT Manager, Chan Kai Kong oversees the IT operations, systems development, photography and web department of the church.

Being able to handle worldly wealth is the gate to being trusted with true riches. In this workshop, understand the importance of budgeting and learn how to create a budget for your church. You will be taught the fundamentals of keeping records of income and expenditure, as well as ways to steward the finances of the house of God.

Helen Gianchand is a Certified Public Accountant with many years in the field of general accounting, audit and taxation. She has worked in a private auditing firm, as well as in advertising and finance companies before working full-time in CHC’s finance department.

Members’ personal data is very sensitive in nature. We’re not just talking about addresses and contact numbers; but counselling reports and history of issues, etc. A leak in confidential information would lead to distress, embarrassment, and even emotional damage. This session will discuss the common problems of a breach in cyber security and how steps can be taken to prevent such leaks.

Matthias Yeo
Matthias Yeo is a Board Member and the Head of the IT committee in CHC. He is a co-founder of a cyber security company (Momentum Z) that helps organisations protect their data. He was formerly the Chief Technology Officer of Symantec and Blue Coat.

Little foxes spoil the vine. Protect your church by creating a strong policy framework to guide decisions and behaviour. In this workshop, you will learn how to set up a framework, and how to craft policies that guide and safeguard your church. Understand the difference between policies and processes, and learn how to ensure compliance.

Lighting plays a very important role in a worship service. Participants of this workshop will learn the basic system layout for dimmable and non-dimmable lights, as well as basic troubleshooting techniques, and more.

Alex Foo / Nicole Tay
Alex Foo and Nicole Tay have extensive experience working on lighting systems, not just in CHC, but also in other productions in the lighting industry. They are the main engineers behind CHC’s service lightings and key trainers of the volunteers in the church’s Lighting Ministry.

Your church is planning a big and exciting event, but how to get the word out? In this workshop, you will learn the art of developing visual collaterals that communicate effectively to all you wish you reach. You will also learn how to develop a creative process for designing for a special event or theme.

Amy Tan is a senior Graphics Designer with many years of experience. Her creative flair is seen in many of the church’s events and collaterals.

Podcasts are powerful as the word lives on beyond the weekend church service. This workshop will teach you how to record your content, package it and send it out to your members in simple, practical steps, without the need for expensive software.

Bernard Loh
Bernard Loh is the programme producer of CHC’s radio station. He has been involved in the running of City Radio since its inception and is responsible for training, hosting, packaging and producing radio podcast programmes weekly.

Every drama begins with a script. We take you behind the scenes where stories are created to carry the desired message to your audience. Learn how to find inspiration for your stories and conceive characters that will add intrigue into the storyline. Other aspects such as developing themes, writing the plot and pitching the story will also be taught.

Carol Marsh
Carol Marsh started her journey as a dramatist in CHC Drama Ministry in 2007. A decade later, her love for writing spurred her to study scriptwriting for film and television. She enjoys creating stories with a whimsical touch which is evident in CHC’s Christmas and Easter productions “A Star Across Time” and “The J Factor”.

A message can only create impact if it is well understood. This workshop will reveal the keys to effective translation and interpretation in church. Learn what makes a good interpreter, particularly for sermons, and discover guiding principles in interpretation and translation that will help you communicate your message powerfully.

Chua Xiu Wen serves as a full-time Chinese interpreter in church. She has had many years of experience in translation and interpretation, both on stage and off stage. She has also helped trained many interpreters locally and overseas.

Danielle Ho is the head of the CityTV Ministry at CHC and has more than 15 years of experience running the ministry together with lay leaders. Seth Gan has more than 10 years of experience as a Technical Director, and assists Danielle CHC's TV ministry with training of volunteers as his main focus.

Dawn Seow is a Senior Writer at City News, an online news website for CHC that trains and engages volunteers to serve the church through their writing and media skills. She has been a news reporter for over 10 years and has a passion for training young writers.

A workshop for current and aspiring directors that covers the theory as well as essential, practical skills of directing. Topics covered include script analysis, auditions and casting, the rehearsal process, techniques in staging and blocking, as well as working with actors. These skills will equip you to direct your church drama productions effectively.

Jaslynn Khoo
Jaslynn Khoo has directed more than 50 plays and large-scale drama productions for CHC. With her previous work experience as a producer in MediaCorp Singapore, she is passionate in expressing concepts and values through drama as a director and actor. Jaslynn is also the resident Acting Trainer of CHC’s Drama Ministry.

Learn how to put together your Order Of Service (OOS) and rehearsal schedule effectively to ensure a smooth execution and operation every weekend. Learn how the audio team can work with the band to produce effective synergy for the worship service. Hear tips from our audio engineers on how to incorporate song references into the workflow, how to sound check, and prepare for the actual service.

William Ng heads both the Audio and Lighting Ministries in CHC and has more than 20 years of experience in the audio field. Lee Shuxia has more than 20 years of experience in the audio field and assists William in leading CHC’s Audio Ministry with training of volunteers as her main focus.

A picture paints a thousand words; a photo even more. Learn about the importance of photography in communication and capturing historical moments in the life of your church. Join CHC’s Visual Communications team as they take you through the visual creation process and teach you how to achieve collaboration across different departments in your church to visually execute a campaign or a theme.

Sean Aaron is an Animator by training with a passion for communicating thoughts and ideas visually. He loves to combine the visual flair of a VFX Artist with the design methodology of a Graphic Designer to create visually stunning as well as meaningful pieces of animated works. Gabriel Yang is a Visual Designer passionate about telling great stories and bringing designs to life.

This is a workshop for aspiring actors. Participants will learn the basics of acting, such as how to analyse a scene and how to act realistically. This interactive workshop will cover the fundamentals of acting, and includes acting exercises where participants can gain some practical hands-on experience.

Sheila Jang
Sheila Jang has been serving in CHC’s Drama Ministry for the past 13 years as both an actress and an assistant director. A librarian by training, Sheila is passionate about the performing arts and its power to move and inspire. She is currently the manager of Singapore’s only public library dedicated to the performing arts.

They are proficient in painting, and seek to deliver God’s Word and His promise to His people through prophetic art. Using their God-given talent, they desire to minister and bring encouragement through this medium.

Thomas Poi is a Design Trainer by profession, mastering technical skills for more than 20 years, and always curious about how things work. Jeffrey Choong has 20 years of dabbling in the design world, with experiences ranging from web design to motion graphics and 3D animation.

Five members during an SOT mission trip kickstarted CHC’s missions movement, which now has more than 100 members embarking on over 100 engagement events yearly across Southeast Asia. This workshop will touch on three keys for a successful Missions Ministry and three guiding principles for those who are current and aspiring ministry leaders in missions.

Chua Kim Peng
Chua Kim Peng is a leader and a trainer in the finance industry for more than 20 years. He is also holds a Senior Lieutenant Colonel (NS) rank in the army and serves as the Commander in an NS Brigade. He and his wife, Lee Keng, co-lead Missio Dei Harvest, the Missions Ministry of CHC with more than 20 leaders, 20 coordinators and about 100 ministry members.

Engaging church members and guests on an online platform is completely different from engaging them face to face. In this workshop, you will learn how to navigate the digital space to bring the warmth of God to those attending service online.

Daniel Yong and Joseph Neo help to run the Greeters Ministry in CHC. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry has evolved along with the season and moved their operations online to support the online weekend services. Daniel and Joseph were involved in the move and training of the volunteers for their new roles.

Learn how to be light in the darkness by bringing medical aid into disaster hit areas. This workshop will touch on what happens in a crisis, such as an earthquake or flood, what to expect when you enter a disaster site and how to manage challenges known and unforeseen. Also, receive cross-cultural training for relief work, as well as the biblical perspective on medical missions.

Dr. Lim Koon Jin
Dr. Lim Koon Jin is the founding partner of Crisis Relief Singapore, which was founded to bring God’s love into crisis-affected nations through medical and relief aid. He has led many teams and partnered local hosts to train and serve the community overseas. In 2013, CHC’s Healthcare Fellowship was founded for the purpose of engaging healthcare professionals within the church.

Games are a great way to warm up a crowd, even an online crowd. Learn how to use readily available online games to engage your members during Zoom Cell Group or Zone meetings. Learn what makes a good game, and discover how to build teamwork through games and make your online meetings as engaging as your in-person gatherings.

Elisa Ng
Tasked at her workplace with team bonding activities over Zoom during the pandemic, Elisa Ng has been creative in coming up with ways to keep participants engaged. With her experience, she has no problems connecting with youths via Zoom games during Cell Group and Zone meetings.

Johann Sim is an experienced Pastoral Supervisor who currently oversees 21 Cell Groups and over 400 members. He is passionate about connecting and engaging members on a personal level.

People go to church to meet with God, but the first people they meet when they get there are the Greeters or Ushers. The Greeters Ministry is the first experience newcomers have of your church, and receiving a warm welcome can make all the difference. In this workshop, learn the Why and How of setting up and growing a Greeters Ministry for your church.

Liew Mei Fang / Wong Yung Yeow
Liew Mei Fang and Wong Yung Yeow are dedicated Greeters Ministry volunteers who run the ministry and serve on a weekly basis. Their aim is to make members of the congregation, visitors and newcomers feel welcomed, accepted and valued each time they come to church.

Pastoral Supervisor, Catherine Lee, was an adopted child who never had a birthday celebration until she came to CHC at the age of 15. The Cell Group she was a part of celebrated her birthday and this simple gesture touched her deeply and left an impact in her life. Because of this, Catherine, now a mother of three, has initiated of a “The Blessing Project” to spark joy and spread warmth to underprivileged children and persons with special needs.

Ever since then, her portfolio of original compositions has grown. Her song “Come Holy Spirit” has been translated to more than seven different languages and sung by many churches around the world.
Lee Seow Ting serves as a Cell Group Leader and is part of CHC’s Choir Ministry. She has a passion for songwriting and enjoys composing songs out of her personal devotion to God. Her most popular compositions include “Pure As Gold” and “How Much Do I Love You”.

Poh Yeang Cherng is Principal of Kingmaker Consultancy Pte. Ltd. and pioneer of Singapore’s cyber wellness movement. He has developed the national framework for cyber wellness values and best practices, training multiple commercial entities to promote cyber wellness through public education.
